Ubisoft Hacked: Game Developer of 'Assassin's Creed' And 'Watch Dogs' Advises Users To Change Password ASAP

Ubisoft was hacked so for those with an online account under the site of this popular game developer are advised to change their passwords as soon as possible.

CNET reported about Ubisoft hacked accounts as the developer of Assassin's Creed announced on Tuesday that their account email was breached by hackers who were able to access usernames, encrypted passwords and email addresses.

The company provided a statement regarding the Ubisoft hacked accounts, saying, "We recently discovered that one of our Web sites was exploited to gain unauthorized access to some of our online systems. During this process, we learned that data had been illegally accessed from our account database."

Furthermore regarding Ubisoft hacked accounts, it was emphasized that no credit card or debit card information was stolen since it does not store any personal payment information of the users. But because password of hacked accounts in Ubisoft might be stolen, the gaming company is suggesting that users alter their passwords in the site as well as to other website where they are using a similar password.

Ubisoft getting hacked again this 2013 is already the second instance that the company experienced breaching. The first one happened in 2010, when according to CNET, "a consortium of hackers known as Skid Row claimed responsibility for breaching Ubisoft's Web site in protest over a policy that required gamers to have a constant Internet connection to play their games."

However, the 2010 Ubisoft hack did not affect any personal information of the user as it only removed the company's "digital rights management technology for PC games.

Ubisoft hacked situation is currently under investigation with relevant experts and already working on restoring the systems. "Ubisoft's security teams are exploring all available means to expand and strengthen our security measures in order to better protect our customers," the game developer wrote.

Ubisoft is the creator of popular games such as Watch Dogs, Tom Clancy's The Division, party casual game called Just Dance and a lot more.
