Serena Williams Wimbledon 2013: Venus Williams Absence Leads To Loss? Tennis Star Wins One Match Out Of Six Total Where Sister Wasn’t Present

Did Serena Williams lose at the Wimbledon 2013 because of her sister Venus Williams' absence?

In the six times Serena Williams has played at a major game without her sister, she has won just once, losing in the fourth round the other five times, the Daily Beast reports.

But Serena Williams seemed to dismiss the idea, according to the Daily Beast, saying "If I can't compete without [my family] here, I really need to reevaluate my life."

Serena Williams lost at the Wimbledon 2013 on Monday to Sabine Lisicki, who is en route to the semi-finals to face Polish tennis star Agnieszka Radwanska.

But Serena Williams made headlines during her time at Wimbledon 2013 not just for her life on the court.

Serena Williams' coach, French tennis star Patrick Mouratoglou, was swarmed with media inquiry after rumors were revealed that the two were dating. Although both Serena Williams and Patrick Mouratoglou have not accepted or denied rumors, speculation over the couple's relationship has grown.

Still, Patrick Mouratoglou publicly lamented her loss and showed his support for her.

"She's human," Mouratoglou told reporters after the 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 loss.

"You cannot expect for anybody even if she is the greatest player of all time, if she is, to be perfect on all the matches all the year. She is not, and she will never be."

"I think still that her low level is better than it was before. But she is a human. She is going to lose some matches, and we have to be ready for that," he added.
