Teacher Student Baby Scandal: California teacher arrested [VIDEO] as Second Student Comes Forward, Teacher Student Relationship in Spotlight
A teacher had student's baby after an illicit relationship, police say. Laura Elizabeth Whitehurst, 28, from California, was arrested for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 16 year old student. The teacher student relationship was a year long. The teacher had student's baby on June 18. Teacher having students baby is evidence of crime.
A second former student came forward claiming that he had a sexual relationship with his teacher Ms. Whitehurst. The second victim said that he visited the teacher's home several times while Ms. Whitehurst was his English teacher at Redlands High School in 2007. She was 22 years old at the time.
Laura Elizabeth Whitehurst was arrested in Redlands on Monday night after being questioned at her home, and was released from jail after posting $25,000 bail.
According to the Daily Caller, Laura Elizabeth Whitehurst taught 10th grade English at Citrus Valley High School. She was also an assistant soccer coach and advised several clubs.
The 28-year-old woman gave birth to a child June 18, and police say her former student is the father.
Since her arrest Monday evening, Whitehurst had been placed on administrative leave.
Teacher Student relationships have gained a lot of attention recently. Both male and female teachers have illegal relationships with students. The Adam Sandler movie "That's My Boy" featured a teacher having a student's baby.
