Pokemon X And Y Pokedex Update [VIDEO]: Monorpale, New Steel/Ghost Pokemon Revealed, More Sword Pokemon To Come?

As Pokemon fans wait for Pokemon X and Y to release October 12, they can catch glimpse of a new sword-like Pokemon that is also a Steel/Ghost dual-type.

First revealed at the Japan Expo in France, the name for this guy is called Monorpale, at least it is in French. In Japanese, it is known as Hitotsuki, reports VG24/7.

With this reveal, fan theories have already erupted regarding this particular Pokemon, from whether it will get an evolution for the upcoming Pokedex to its inspiration.

"MONOrpale, HITOtsuki. Both French and Japanese names have meaning "one" in them. Makes me wonder if it'll multiply as it evolves," writes Pokejungle contributor Kriffix.

Some have taken the sign that it is being revealed in France as a hint at its origin.

"In the Matter of France, Roland possessed an indestructible sword, Durendal, which he threw into a poisoned stream to prevent its capture. Durendal was one of a set of three swords supposedly forged by Wayland and provided as ransom for a Norse captive, the other two being variously Bishop Turpin's sword Almace,Charlemagne's Joyeuse, or Ogier's sword Curtana," continues Kriffix.

"Could this mean there is a set of three possessed swords? Hototsuki, Futatsuki and Mittsuki?"

"I am personally not sure what to think...except Steel/Ghost is a combination I wanted," writes Rankumander.

"I hope that maybe, this Pokemon can evolve into a possessed body of armor? I can picture the design in my head..."

One thing is for sure, with the unusual design and a new type combination, Pokemon X and Y is shaping up to be the most exciting entry of Nintendo's mega-franchise yet!
