Holoproscencephaly Cyclops Cat Birth [VIDEO]: Reddit alerts the Internet to Disturbing Holoproscencephaly Pics, Holoproscencephaly Genetic Disorder

A Holoproscencephaly Cyclops cat was born in a litter and died shortly thereafter, according to Reddit.com.  Holoproscencephaly is a rare condition in which the forebrain of the embryo fails to develop into two hemispheres.  Holoproscencephaly in humans can also occur.

 

According to The Age, a holoproscencephaly Cyclops cat has been born before.  The kitten was named Cy, short for Cyclops and was born with a single eye and no nose.  Cy died after a day.

Reddit comments showed an outpouring of grief for the ill-fated kitty. 

Kitty1920 said “Poor lil kitten” and SlightlyAmbiguous replied “RIP lil Furby baby

Throwaway2-0394-091 commented that the kitten did not feel pain as the parts of the brain that feel pain do not develop in holoproscencephaly.

Cyclops are a major figure in Greek and Roman mythology.  A Cyclops is a member of a primordial race of giants, each with a single eye in the middle of his forehead.
