Nexus 5 Rumors, Specs: New LG Phone Similar To Megalodon? Rumors Suggest Similarities In Phone Development

The Nexus 5, LG's rumored phone, might be similar to the company's Megalodon, the International Digital Times suggests, manifesting rumors that the new phone would inherit similar specs from its predecessor.

The rumors sparked after LG Europe spokesman Won Kim said that a Nexus 5 move would be risky, considering its production issues and Google involvement.

"The Nexus 4 was a great success despite the production problems for us and Google. However we do not need such a marketing success again," Kim told reporters.

But now those these statements seem to lay in the past as LG prepares for the possibility of releasing a new phone.

"LG's Megalodon also turned out to be more myth than reality. Now it appears that LG is walking back from its previous statement that it had no interest in producing the Nexus 5. New information indicates that LG, which is currently working on the next generation Optimus G2, may still be producing the Nexus 5 and it may have specs very similar to the LG Megalodon," the International Digital Times writes.

"LG's denial led many to speculate about which company might produce the Nexus 5, Motorola was the primary candidate as many pointed out that Googlehad long sought the ability to produce its own devices rather than partnering with companies like Samsung, Asus and LG. The acquisition of Motorola Mobility by Google and the rumors of the 'Motorola X' a flagship smartphone from LG gave credence to the rumors that Motorola and Google would produce the Nexus 5."

No official word yet on the Nexus 5's release date, specs or features.
