Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Trailer? Mysterious Teaser Of Fourth Doctor Draws Speculations Of Tom Baker Return

"Doctor Who" fans have been treated with a mysterious teaser trailer, possibly for the BBC series' 50th Anniversary Special, that features the fourth Doctor, played by Tom Baker.

The trailer was uploaded onto the Doctor Who official Youtube channel, and it is unlisted so only those with the link can see it.

Check out the 30-second teaser below:

The trailer does not directly infer the upcoming 50th Anniversary Special, which is expected to land later this year in 3D and select theaters, but given the occasion, it is entirely possible.

Doctorwhotv.co.uk believes that it is most likely a teaser related to merchandising, but you can never count the mysterious ways of Steven Moffat.

On "Doctor Who," the fourth Doctor, portrayed by Tom Baker, is known as the longest-lived incarnation of the Doctor in the show's history. Baker played the iconic role from 1974 to 1981 for a total of seven seasons.

And while there is no official confirmation on Baker's appearance for the 50th Anniversary Special, he will be a part of the celebration in some capacity.

The Huffington Post reports that current Doctor Matt Smith and previous incarnation actors Tom Baker, Colin Baker, and Sylvester McCoy, will be part of a three-day Doctor Who Celebration even on November 23-25 at the ExCel center in London.

"The event this year will be an extra special occasion for me," says Smith after announcing his imminent departure from the show.

"I'm truly looking forward to a huge celebration with the fans in the lead up to the 50th anniversary episode."

So with this new trailer, does this mean the fourth Doctor, and Tom Baker, will be a part of the 50th Anniversary Special both off-screen and on?
