Dwight Howard Chooses Houston Rockets: Harden And Lin Will Be Joined By Former Multiple Time Defensive Player Of The Year

Dwight Howard chooses Houston Rockets as his new NBA home for the 2013-2014 season and beyond.

Sam Amick of USA Today reported the news Friday when he tweeted, "Dwight Howard has chosen to sign with the Houston Rockets, @USATODAYSports has learned. Story to come."

No more further details have been revealed after Dwight Howard chooses Houston Rockets as his new team in terms of the contract. The amount of years and money that is in the contract is yet to be reported.

Howard is a 7-time all-star, three-time Defensive Player of the Year, five-time all-NBA first team and many more accolades in his career.

He was traded from the Orlando Magic during the last offseason to the Los Angeles Lakers. Coming off a back injury, Howard, Kobe Bryant and the Lakers were able to make the playoffs, but did live up to the expectations of those two and Steve Nash on the floor together. They were eliminated in the first round.

The 27-year-old Howard will now join James Harden, Jeremy Lin and a fast-tempo offense from last season. Omar Asik emerged as a power forward threat and Howard chooses the Houston Rockets and now will be the center and help out the team defensively. Offensively, the Rockets were second in the entire NBA in scoring. Defensively, they were third in the league with points against, of over 102, according to NBA.com.
