Beyoncé And Sister Skip Father's Wedding: Music Came First For Music Star, But Why Wasn't Solange There?

Beyoncé and sister skip father's wedding as Matthew Knowles married former model Gena Charmaine Avery.

It was Beyonce and sister Solange Knowles were no-shows when they skipped their father's wedding last weekend in Houston, Texas.

Mathew divorced Beyonce and Solange's mother, Tina, in 2011 after 31 years of marriage. He had been engaged to Avery for a year and a half, until they got married and his two daughters skipped their father's wedding.

"Unfortunately, Beyonce and Solange had previous engagements which made it impossible for them to attend," Matthew, 61, told TVGuide.com.

In March of 2011, there was a statement to Us Weekly at the time Beyoncé said there was no hard feelings between herself and her father based on her career decision.

"I've only parted ways with my father on a business level," Beyoncé said. "He is my father for life and I love my dad dearly. I am grateful for everything he has taught me. I grew up watching both he and my mother manage and own their own businesses. They were hard-working entrepreneurs and I will continue to follow in their footsteps."

Beyoncé was on her The Mrs. Carter Show tour in Vegas and California last weekend. No word on her why her sister couldn't be in attendance has been reported. The singer might have been on tour as well.
