Windows 8.1 Update: OEM To Get The Latest Version of Microsoft OS In Late August; Five New Bug Fixes For Preview Version Released

Microsoft has announced new details about Windows 8.1 update. Furthermore, the tech company has already released bug fixes for Windows 8.1 Preview Version.

According to Microsoft, as reported by Eweek, Windows 8.1 release date for the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) is set in late August. During the Worlwide Partner Conference (WPC) 2013, Tami Reller, CFO of Microsoft and the Chief Marketing Officer for Windows shared the company's strategy for the developers and partners with the major products such as the Windows OS and Windows Phone.

Reller shared, "I'm also quite happy to be able to confirm today that Windows 8.1 will be available for our OEM partners in late August.Meaning that holiday devices, many of them will have Windows 8.1. So late August available to OEMs. So very pleased to confirm that today."

Windows 8.1 update through the Preview Version was released and made available for download during the Build 2013 developer conference last month. This latest Windows 8.1 update provides partners "new tools and features to build on and sell to their customers."

According to Reller, Windows is becoming an apparent destination for the developers. In fact, 100 million OS licenses have already been sold and more than a hundred thousand apps in the Windows Store were already downloaded. She also said that more customers who want business-related apps on Windows 8 need partners to help them.

She further added, "One thing we're seeing is that about two out of three enterprise organizations are investing today in mobile applications. So it's a great opportunity to build a practice around building line-of-business applications, modern design on Windows 8. And Windows 8.1 makes that even more obvious."

Furthermore, as part of the monthly "Patch Tuesday" event of Microsoft, few more bug fixes for Windows 8.1 Preview were released. Neowin, citing the list by WinBeta.org, provided the 5 bug fixes for the Windows 8.1 update for the Preview version, which are written below:
