KFC 7-Foot Bucket Materializes in Georgia Woman’s Yard; Gravy Boat and Mashed Potatoes Still at Large

A KFC 7-foot bucket mysteriously materialized on the front yard of a woman’s house in Georgia. There was no explanation for the KFC 7-foot bucket and there was no chicken inside the bucket and no sign of a side dish or an extra-large soda. Aleena Headrick of Waynesboro, Ga., woke up one morning to find Colonel Sanders staring from a KFC 7-foot bucket in her front lawn last Thursday.

Confused, Headrick took to Facebook to get to the bottom of it. She posted a photo of the KFC 7-foot bucket and announced plans to bring it to a neighborhood potluck. Headrick had no idea who the culprit was who saddled her with a KFC 7-foot bucket, though there were likely suspects. A fun-loving frat house is in her area, but this was no college hazing. Aleena Headrick had no idea how the KFC 7-foot bucket, with the legend “Finger Lickin’ Good” ended up in her yard.

Headrick said "I was driving by, I saw this giant Kentucky Fried Chicken bucket in my yard, and I thought for sure I was hallucinating, so I called my teenagers who were at home and had them go outside."

Investigations found that the KFC 7-foot bucket came courtesy of Headrick’s landlord. Freddy Taylor, who owns Headrick’s property collects old signs and decided to keep on the house he owns that Headrick rents. Taylor plans to mount the KFC 7-foot bucket on a pole and keep it displayed on the front yard. Taylor estimates that, judging by the design, the supersized advertisement is at least 30 or 40 years old.

Aleena Headrick told WAGT NBC 26, "It's unusual but it ... really landmarks to our house. We can just say, 'Come down to the giant KFC bucket and turn right.'"

In return for any inconvenience a KFC 7-foot bucket might cause, Yum Brands, KFC’s parent company offered to give Headrick a free fried chicken picnic. Rick Maynard, a spokesman for KFC told the Huffington Post “They’ve got the bucket, now they just need the chicken.”

Headrick said "Too often we just need something to laugh about and so I put it on Facebook and told them that I would bring chicken to the next potluck."

The Headrick family has decided to keep the display as lawn art.
