PS4 Vs. Xbox One Pre-Orders: 'Killzone: Shadow Fall' Beats 'Dead Rising 3' and 'Forza 5?' New Study Places Sony Videogame Ahead Of Microsoft Exclusives

Cowen & Co. is reporting that pre-orders for PlayStation 4-exclusive shooter Killzone: Shadow Fall are eclipsing those of fellow next-generation titles Dead Rising 3 and Forza 5 for Xbox One, Playstation Universe reports.

The findings come from the Cowen Video Game Odometer, which is based on an analysis of NPD data sales and Amazon best-seller data from previous years. The firm claims the results are 96-97 per cent accurate, with data having been monitored since E3 and is updated frequently, Playstation Universe also reports.

But pre-orders aren't the only thing Playstation 4 and Xbox One fans are buzzing about.

The Playstation 4 uses 3.5GB of its total 8GB RAM to run its operating system compared to the 3GB the Xbox One uses, the International Business Times reports, leaving gamers wondering if the PS4 will be a faster next-generation console.

The PS4 will use a GDDR5 RAM while the Xbox One will function on a DD3 memory, EuroGamer reports. And Sony's console will feature "flexible memory" which allows users to use FreeBSD virtual memory functionality.

Both consoles will contain 8GB of total RAM.

While many suggest that there are increasing similarities in specs between the PS4 and the Xbox One, others say Microsoft's capability to allow independent game developers the chance to self-publish their own products on the Xbox One will boost their sales.
