MLB Trade Deadline 2013: Latest Updates As 4 P.M. ET Closing Time Nears - Red Sox Boost Staff, Tigers Plan Without Shortstop To Biogenesis Plan And Much More

The MLB trade deadline of 2013 comes to an end at 4 p.m. ET Tuesday and with the hammer coming down on the biogenesis clinic scandal, some teams might be in rush to make moves without big bats in their lineups starting Friday.

These teams that haven't made moves in what is a smaller marker for the MLB trade deadline in 2013, some teams have to make moves now if they want to replace some of the names leaving their respective lineups.

The Texas Rangers are close to losing their possible best bat in Nelson Cruz, who has 24 homeruns and 72 RBI for a team fighting to get into this year's postseason. Detroit has already adapted to possibly losing Johnny Peralta, so the Tigers have made a move for some backup during the 2013 MLB trade deadline.

His breakout season will be no more help for the Tigers to get back to the World Series because he, along with Cruz, Alex Rodriguez and others could face a possible lengthy suspension as soon as Friday.

The Tigers were involved in a three-team trade that sent the Chicago White Sox's Jake Peavy to the Boston Red Sox in a move to bolster their starting rotation. In the trade, Detroit received the Bo Sox's future short stop Jose Iglesias.

In other news, the San Diego Padres made a trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks for struggling, but still young arm that has proven his way in the majors in Ian Kennedy.

This year he is 3-8 with a 5.23 ERA on a team battling for a playoff spot. The Padres dealt left-handed reliever Joe Thatcher, Minor League right-handed pitcher Matt Stites and a 2014 Competitive Balance Round B Draft pick to the D-Backs.

"We're excited to add a starting pitcher of Ian's pedigree," Padres general manager Josh Byrnes told MLB website. "He is under club control through 2015, and we feel he will help us take another step forward as a team."
