Lindsay Lohan Rehab Stint Ends After Three Months; Wasn’t Allowed to Attend Canyon Opening; Director Says Production Was in Lohan Hell

Lindsay Lohan is out of rehab after three months. Lindsay Lohan bid farewell to the Cliffside Malibu rehab last night. During Lindsay Lohan’s rehab stay she wasn’t allowed to attend the opening of her latest moive, “Canyon,” directed by Paul Schrader, who made the legendary remake of the classic Val Lewton film “Cat People” and “American Gigolo” and who wrote “Taxi Driver” and “Raging Bull” for Martin Scorsese. Shrader said the production of “Canyon” was mired in the Lindsay Lohan horror show.

Now that Lindsay Lohan is out of rehab, she will be very busy. It may be a second Lindsay Lohan coming. Lindsay Lohan will guest host on “Chelsea Lately” on Aug. 5. The troubled star will also give an in-depth interview about her time in rehab to Oprah Winfrey in an OWN-produced eight-part docu-series that followed Lindsay Lohan through rehab and on her way to stay sober and rebuild her career. Lindsay Lohan will also be promoting the new movie, “The Canyons,” which opens on Aug. 2. Lindsay Lohan wasn’t allowed to attend the premiere of “The Canyons,” so she sent her mother, Dina Lohan Went in her place.

Lindsay Lohan also plans to attend the Venice Film Festival, which opens on Aug. 28.

Before she went into rehab, Lindsay Lohan told Piers Morgan, "I believe things happen for a reason…I live without regrets. There are certain things I have done, mistakes that I made, that I would change, but I don't regret them at all, because I've learned from them."

Paul Schrader said that the movie “Canyons” was troubled from the get-go. The production was plagued by squabbles between the producers and the screenwriter, Bret Easton Ellis, who wrote “American Psycho” and “Less Than Zero.” Schrader could pay the crew and then had to deal with the erratic behavior of Lindsay Lohan. Schrader doesn’t seem to mind now though. He’s been very upbeat in spite of looming critical notices.

Schrader said, "The first storyline is Bret and Paul make the movie. The second is the Lindsay Lohan horror show. And the third story behind the film is: 'Hey, it's pretty good after all.'"

"The Canyons" is a dark, sexually graphic movie about a porn star with no acting experience.
