Randy Travis Update: Singer Released From Hospital After Critical Condition Post Stroke; Country Music Star Send Love To Fans[TWEETS]

Randy Travis was released form the hospital after spending almost all of July hospitalized and in critical condition.

Travis was released to a physical therapy facility, where he'll continue to receive treatment. He was also given a device to aid his heart in pumping blood.

"Thanks to all the fans and friends for your continued prayers and support as Randy continues on the road to recovery," said Travis fiancee.

Travis had been under heavy sedation since surgery following a stroke. 54-year-old Randy Travis has been hospitalized since July 7th after suffering congestive heart failure due to a viral illness.

Randy Travis, the country music star, suffered a stroke while undergoing surgery at a Texas hospital. Prior to the stroke, doctors said that Travis was showing signs of improvement.

As a result of his heart condition, acutely, and the stroke, he was put on a ventilator to help him breathe during his hospitalization. He remains on that, but we are decreasing that support daily," Dr. Gary Erwin said while hopotialized. "He is breathing spontaneously with the help of the ventilator and hope to have him weaned off of that very soon breathing completely on his own."

Erwin added that Travis responded well to the surgical procedure he had to relieve the pressure in his brain caused by his stroke. "He is awake and alert, interacting with his family and friends and beginning to start doing some early physical therapy," he said.

Travis was admitted to Baylor Medical Center McKinney near his home in Tioga, about 60 miles north of Dallas, through the emergency room last month. Randy  underwent a procedure to have a pump inserted by catheter that increases blood flow before being transferred to The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano.

William Gray and Michael Mack of the Baylor Health Care System in Texas described Travis' condition and hospitalization in a video statement a few weeks ago.

"His condition has stabilized, and he has shown signs of improvement," Mack said in the video. "On behalf of Mr. Travis' family, friends and associates, we would like to express our extreme gratitude for the overwhelming affection and support that Mr. Travis has received."

Whatever they did seems to be working because nor Randy can leave the hospital. Although he will have an uphill battle fighting his health issues, this is the first good sign is Randy's recovery.
