Selena Gomez ‘Come And Get It’ No. 1 With ‘Stars Dance’ Album, Youngest Person To Top Billboard 200 Chart Since Taylor Swift

Selena Gomez topped the Billboard 200 album chart with her fourth studio album and first solo endeavor, "Stars Dance," with her No. 1 hit "Come And Get It."

"Stars Dance" sold 97,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. She grabbed the top slot from rapper Jay-Z, whose album "Magna Carta Holy Grail" had been No. 1 for two straight weeks, Fox News reports.

Industry sources projected Gomez's album to sell between 90,000 and 100,000 copies, The Huffington Post reports.

According to ExtraTV.com, Gomez is the youngest person to hit #1 since Taylor Swift, who took "Speak Now" to the top in 2010. Swift was just 20 at the time. Selena had her 21st birthday last Friday.

Gomez shared with her Twitter followers her gratitude for the title.

She shared an Instagram picture with the caption: "#1! From the Stars Dance tour and lil G... THANK YOU."

Selena also reflected on the meaning behind "Stars Dance" to Fox News: "Genuinely, the whole record is me being a woman and wanting to explore that and being comfortable in my skin and my body, and exuding confidence," Gomez said. "People speculate or think what they want to think, but it's been really fun for me to kind of explore what I want to explore."

On August 14 Gomez will set off on a 56-city world tour, starting in Vancouver, British Columbia.
