‘Fast And Furious 7’ Cast: Denzel Washington Turns Down ‘Small Role,’ But Vin Diesel Will Return And Jason Statham Will Play Villain

"Fast and Furious 7" hasn't locked down a cast, but one thing we know for sure is that it won't include Denzel Washington.

Deadline.com writer Mike Fleming Jr. let a secret slip about the cast of "Fast and Furious 7." He said that Denzel Washington, who stars in the new film "2 Guns," turned down a "small role" in the next installment of the "Fast and Furious" franchise.

Fleming did not give any more details about who Washington would have played or who will fill in for his part, Hollywood.com reports.

According to the website, Vin Diesel confirmed he will return for the seventh "Fast and Furious," and he has tweeted his excitement since spring. Jason Statham will also reprise his role as the villain.

According to Fleming, Universal will "undoubtedly get somebody important" for the part, which would likely carry over into the ninth "Fast & Furious" film, The Huffington Post reports.

"Fast & Furious 7" is set to hit theaters on July 6th, 2014. James Wan, the director of "The Conjuring," has not yet locked down a full cast or even started filming, according to Hollywood.com.

"I really do feel the pressure," Wan told HuffPost Entertainment. The director is taking over the series from Justin Lin, who lead the last four films in the franchise.

Wan continued: "but, you know, if you have to go into a particular franchise, there could not be a better one to come into. Do you know what I mean? Coming on something that's actually on the upswing as opposed to something on the downswing."
