Retina iPad Mini 2 Release Date Set For Q4 2013; 2nd Gen Smaller Apple Tablet Arriving With Various Colors For Back Covers

A complete turnaround of iPad Mini 2 release date rumors recently swirled in online.

For several months already , a lot of tech experts were suggesting that the Retina iPad Mini 2 release date will not happen this year because of production difficulties. However, a new report from the Wall Street Journal is now claiming that the Cupertino-based tech company would actually release the iPad Mini 2 with Retina display in the 4th quarter of 2013.

According to International Business Times, suppliers for Apple are now preparing for the mass production of the 2nd gen mini tablet to set the 'Retina' iPad Mini 2 release date for Q4 2013. Reportedly, the iPad Mini 2 will ""likely feature a high-resolution screen from Samsung." This is in contrary to previous reports saying that the iPad Mini that will be released this year will not feature a screen with Retina display.

Aside from the Retina display, another major change that Apple fans may see when iPad Mini 2 release date arrives is the various colors for the back covers. The WSJ report shared that Apple is considering "offering multiple colors of back covers for the device." This possible move from Apple could complement the release of the lower-cost iPhone, which is expected to have plastic back covers in a variety of candy colors.

Report also said that originally, Apple was only planning to use LG and Sharp as its suppliers, but it also decided on hiring Samsung to ensure that there will be enough supply for the screens. The current generation of iPad Mini is sporting display panels that were only supplied by Sharp and AU Optronics.

iPad Mini 2' size will most likely be the same with the first gen of iOS tablet, sporting a 7.9 inch display.

Watch out for more reports about iPad Mini 2 release date rumors as the 4th quarter of 2013 approaches.
