Pokemon X And Y Release [UPDATE]: Distribution Through Download Card, Cartridge, And eShop Available In Japan

As the Pokemon X and Y release date draws ever closer, a few more tidbits have been revealed regarding the 3DS purchase and its various distribution methods.

In addition to the shiny Pokemon giveaway events being held all over the world, it appears that fans will not only be able to obtain Pokemon X and Y through the normal 3DS cartridge and the eShop, but also a download card.

Serebii reports that various Japanese retail stores will distribute X and Y through the 3DS game cartridge, but a special download card will also be available. While this is a common practice on the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, this also requires the SD card to have the right amount of available space.

Reportedly, the release of Pokemon X and Y will require 1.7 GB, or 14,000 blocks, of space on the SD card to allow the download of the game.

Fortunately, this is only one of two methods of purchasing Pokemon X and Y in Japanese stores, and there is always the eShop option. It is unconfirmed is release methods outside of Japan will follow the same model.

As Pokemon X and Y prepare for its October 12 worldwide release, a series of US and UK shiny Pokemon giveaway events will begin starting this month, and a few updates have surfaced.

As previously reported, this event is for all the Pokemon lovers who no doubt possess either Pokemon Black 2 or Pokemon White 2, just in time to upgrade to Pokemon X and Y.

From August 30 to September 12, the shiny Dialga will be available for download through UK GAME locations.

From September 12 to September 26, prepare for the shiny Palkia giveaway events.

And finally, September 27 to October 12 will see the shiny Giratina available for the giveaway.

Reportedly, the UK and US shiny Pokemon giveaway dates will be the same, and Australia and New Zealand have also been confirmed to be holding the same events!
