PS4 Vs. Xbox One Pre-Orders: ‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’ Launch Fails? Activision Says Gamers Are Waiting For Next-Generation Consoles To Be Released To Purchase Game

The imminent arrival of the PS4 and Xbox One is causing consumers to wait before pre-ordering Call of Duty: Ghosts, Activision said, VideoGamer writes.

Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing explained that this is why pre-orders for Ghosts are currently "well below the record-setting pace set by Call of Duty: Black Ops II last year," VideoGamer also writes.

Our quantitative consumer research indicates that hesitation amongst past club pre-orders is primarily due to not knowing which platform they will be playing on, which is natural at this time in the console transition."

As gamers await the release of the next-generation consoles, they are also scrambling for pre-orders after it was announced that August 5 will be the last day to pre-order Playstation 4 consoles in the United Kingdom.

If Playstation 4 fans pre-order later than the August 5 deadline, it may not reach the release day but it doesn't mean you can't get the PS4 on its launch day without a pre-order, CVG reports.

But the pre-order battle between Sony and Microsoft doesn't stop there.

Pre-orders for PlayStation 4-exclusive shooter Killzone: Shadow Fall are eclipsing those of fellow next-generation titles Dead Rising 3 and Forza 5 for Xbox One, Playstation Universe reports.

The findings come from the Cowen Video Game Odometer, which is based on an analysis of NPD data sales and Amazon best-seller data from previous years. The firm claims the results are 96-97 per cent accurate, with data having been monitored since E3 and is updated frequently, Playstation Universe also reports.
