Playstation 4 Release Date And Price: December 13 Date Leaked? Retailer Reveals Price Tag And Launch Of Sony’s Next-Generation Console

Sony's Playstation 4 console might be released on December 13, ITProPortal reports after discovering a Toys R Us UK website posting, leaving gamers wondering if Sony's launch date was leaked.

Neither Microsoft nor Sony have not confirmed UK, US or global availability dates for their latest consoles, ITProPortal also reports.

But new information reveals that a December 13 release date for the Playstation 4 could hurt Sony's profits.

"For one, it would be too dangerous for Sony to release the PS4 by mid-December, despite its obvious advantage of being $100 more affordable; if the PS4 drops by December 13, that wouldn't give Sony enough time to ensure stocks are sufficient ahead of the Christmas season, particularly in America," the website writes.

"It would also be too late for most holiday shoppers, as recent studies show over one third of Americans are finished with their Christmas shopping by the first week of December."

And after Monday, August 5 there'll be no guarantee that pre-ordering a PlayStation 4 will get you one before Christmas in the UK, that's according to unnamed retailers speaking to CVG, Metro UK reports.

Sony has not said anything official on the subject, but the insiders claim that the unofficial deadline will affect the whole of the UK and likely Europe and Australasia as well, Metro UK also reports.
