127 Yard Sale 2013 Spans From Michigan To Alabama, Crosses Five States And 690 Miles, World’s Longest Sale Is ‘Americana At It’s Best’

The 127 Yard Sale is the world's longest sale, spanning five states and 690 miles down route 127.

The Inquisitr reports that the yard sale stretches from Addison, Michigan to Gadsden, Alabama. The sale follows route 127 through Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama.

The 127 yard sale started on August 1 and will wrap up on August 4. The yard sales are accompanied by music and vendors set up along route 127.

The annual event is held outdoors and is being held for the 26th time this year. The idea behind the yard sale is described on the website:

"It is a mutual exchange of cultures with a common goal; to look, buy and sell! As you transverse the country roads, you will hear a collection of dialects, be privy to incredible stories related to the individuals and the items they sale and see a plethora of items that only your grandmother could love. Most importantly, I think most come to see the unusual and socialize. It is Americana at it's best."

According to The Examiner, the sale was intended to attract tourists out to the country and through the scenic back roads and small towns of America's Midwest and South.
