American Horror Story Season 3 Spoilers: Kathy Bates Confirmed As Delphine LaLaurie, Sarah Paulson And Jessica Lange To Play Mother And Daughter, And More!

"American Horror Story" season 3 has begun filming in New Orleans, but some of the illustrious cast made sure to stop by Friday's TCA panel and reveal some "Coven" spoilers.

One of the spoilers that has this writer particularly excited is the reveal that Kathy Bates, as previously predicted, will indeed by dramatizing real-life New Orleans socialite Madame Delphine LaLaurie.

"Kathy's never [played] someone this bad. Her [character] is a bad, bad woman!" teased Murphy to TV Line.

"When I pitched this to Kathy, her mouth was drop-jawed because what I was pitching actually happened. It's a true event. You'll see. It's some good stuff."

Reportedly, LaLaurie was a Louisiana-born socialite from the 1800's who was a serial murderer that imprisoned and tortured black slaves.

Writer and sociologist Harriet Martineau recounted tales in her book "Retrospect of Western Travel" that LaLaurie hid slaves who were emaciated, whip-beaten, bound, and forced to keep their heads in a static position from spiked iron collars.

Yikes! But one thing is certain, Kathy Bates such a juicy "American Horror Story" season 3 will no doubt be gloriously epic.

In addition, spoilers confirm that Sarah Paulson and Jessica Lange will be playing mother and daughter in season 3, according to Yahoo! News. Reportedly, both Lange and Paulson will be playing witches, with Lange's character name is Fiona, while Paulson's is Cordelia, after King Lear.

In addition, "American Horror Story" executive producer Tim Minear says "the fun quotient is higher this year."

"This year is a drama but there is a lot of humor and...we are embracing a sort of velocity and fun with the series this year. I think it might be a little more welcoming to an audience."

"I think some of the bigger themes this year is oppression of minorities of all kinds and within that idea, the idea of minority group going after each other and doing the work for the larger culture. There's a very strong feminist there, there's also themes of race and thermos of oppression and a very strong theme of family, specifically mothers and daughters. Those are some of the things we'll be exploring this year."

"American Horror Story" season 3 is set to return this October on FX.
