Half-Life 3 Release Date Rumors About 2014 Launch Not True: Valve’s First Person Shooter Game Not Arriving At E3 Next Year

Half-Life 3 release date is not set for 2014.

Rumors suggesting that Half-Life 3 will appear at next year's Electronic Entertainment Expo were apparently bogus, as Valve Corporation stated.

The long-awaited Half-Life 3 will not be at E3 2014 after Valve disproved a statement that allegedly came from a game developer, John Guthrie. The quote was originally posted at No Shit Shurlock and it immediately intensified the rumors about Half-Life 3 release date.

According to the post, John Guthrie stated, "I can't confirm all too much since the development is still in early stages, but for now I can confirm that we are going to release on both current and next generation consoles and we will also release the game on our own platform exclusively for PC and Mac. We hope to have the first trailer ready for E3 2014."

Furthermore, other information that was part of the bogus statement said that Valve decided to not create a third episode for Half-Life 2 because the story will change from the original, even though the main characters will still be the same. Because of this, Valve chose to move on with Half-Life 3 instead "because of an improved game engine, new game mechanics, and the next-generation consoles."

The report also stated that Half-Life 3 will be a single player game, and not a cooperative play as it will not offer any multiplayer components. But again, all these news about Half-Life 3, as said by the spokesperson from Valve, were simply 'bogus.'

Since there are no official announcements about Half-Life 3 release date other than Valve's refuting the bogus statement, it could be expected that Half-Life 3 may not be coming soon. Escapist Magazine shared that they do not even have an idea if the game will ever actually materialize.

If there will ever be Half-Life 3 release date, then the upcoming title will be the third major entry for the blockbuster first person shooter game franchise from Valve Corporation.

Again, there is no confirmation yet Half-Life 3 release or whether it is already in production stages.
