Pokemon X And Y Original Pokedex Update [VIDEO]: Poliwrath And Arbok Showcased In Battle Gameplay, How Many Generations Will Join Them?

Although it's been a relatively slow week for Pokemon X and Y updates, the latest Pokemon Smash showcased some original Pokedex additions all the way from Red and Blue during a battle gameplay video.

In the YouTube Pokemon X and Y video below, you can see Arbok and Poliwrath battling new Kalos Pokedex additions, Malamar and Pangoro.

What's been interesting with Pokemon X and Y marketing is that many original Pokemon are making a comeback, especially to show off their new 3D models.

But, it is also amping up excitement for the X and Y Pokedex, as many are anticipating a large selection of original Pokemon.

Currently, it is unclear how much of the Pokedex will include new Kalos Pokemon and how much will be comprised of original Pokemon, but the official confirmation should arrive before the October 12 release date.

"Well most of the episode was kind of disappointing...at least we got to see some more cell-shaded 3D models of old pokemon. They made Poliwrath look even beastlier than normal," writes one Pokejungle contributor.

However, one thing Pokemon X and Y is doing is set up anticipation a lot of old fan favorites to show up in the game, and perhaps that may leave gamers disappointed should the game not feature as many as expected.

After all, should Pokemon X and Y allow for backwards compatibility, Game Freak must have rendered 3D models of every Pokemon already.
