Samsung Galaxy S3 Update: Smartphone Gets Access To AT&T Over-The-Air Updates, Receives Android 4.1.2 Update Via WiFi Or LTE

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Update has been a major issue for numerous owners of the smartphone, but for AT&T users, good news is at hand via the tech giant’s recent over-the-air updates.

According to Intomobile, AT&T has started rolling over-the-air updates for two phones from its portfolio, one of which is the Samsung Galaxy S3. The other is Pantech Discover.

The Samsung smartphone is getting Android 4.1.2 along with a number of system tweaks and changes. Users may need to download the 200MB-heavy file over Wi-Fi though some have reported that it’s possible to do the update via LTE. Intomobile suggests taking the Wi-Fi route to ensure that the download is completed as soon as possible.

The mobile industry-focused blog suggests that your device must have enough battery to keep the phone alive until the end of the updates process.

Android 4.2.2 In Constant Delay

The much-awaited Android 4.2.2 is still reportedly delayed, according to numerous reports. The release date for the latest version of Android’s operating system is a frustrating topic for many Android users and comments have sprung with users expressing their angst on the delay.

It could well be the reason why carriers like AT&T and Verizon are doing their own updates or allowing users to access alternatives.

User James Wadsworth wrote, “Tired of waiting for the update, what is the point, scrap it completely Samsung, your clients are not fools..” Another user, Jerry, said that his “first experience with Samsung” would also be his last.

A user insinuated that since sales of a new phone could be affected by the updates, the delays must be driven by greed.

Speculations last May have suggested that the latest Android OS would be available for the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 last month. News of the delays began spreading when the summer month of June came and went without an update being released by Samsung.

The most recent rumors are that the update will arrive this July and with less than 48 hours away from a new month, the horizon is bleak for a Samsung Galaxy S3 Update.

New Android Update Shows Improvements

A recent leak revealing the official software showed improvements from the previous version. This suggests that any issues that have been found with the firmware are being fixed as the release date approaches.

The update to Android will include new Samsung features already on the Galaxy S4 like Smart Pause and Smart Scroll. These two features will be in addition to the new features the Android update will bring. Details of all the operating system’s features can be read about here.

Once Samsung releases the new update, users will have to wait for their cell phone service providers to test the operating system and add their own customized features, which will delay the arrival for some.
