'The Vampire Diaries' Season 5 Spoilers: Stefan Ex Girlfriend ‘True Blood’ Actress Janina Gavankar Coming To Mystic Falls?

A mysterious vampire is coming to Mystic Falls in season 5 of "The Vampire Diaries." Is she Stefan's rumored ex-girlfriend, coming to the Virginia town to search for him? Spoilers for season 5 will give us some insight into the character played by "True Blood" actress Janina Gavankar.

According to TVLine, "Vampire Diaries" will welcome "True Blood" actress Janina Gavankar this season in episode 3, IB Times reports. Gavankar played Luna Garza, a shape-shifter who became involved with Sam Merlotte, but was killed off in season six of "True Blood."

Gavankar will play Tessa on "The Vampire Diaries," and TVLine describes her character as "a beautiful, exotic and self-assured woman who comes to Mystic Falls to rekindle an old flame."

Episode 3 will take place during a flashback into the past, suggesting that Tessa is a vampire and has had a long, eventful life.

So is Tessa looking for Stefan? Latinos Post reports that there were rumors of a mysterious lady vampire coming to Mystic Falls in search of Stefan. Maybe Gavankar's character will be the one who frees Stefan from his watery prison at the bottom of the lake.

We doubt that Tessa is looking for Damon, since executive producer Julie Plec has previously told Entertainment Weekly that Damon and Elena will get some time on the show reveling in the honeymoon phase of their new relationship.

However, that doesn't mean things are all hearts and flowers for the couple.

"One is keeping a secret from another, trying not to hurt their feelings, trying to make them happy, little things that any normal couple would fight about and then hopefully make up over," Plec teased of Damon's and Elena's relationship conflicts to the EW.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 5 will return to The CW October 3.
