Gamescon 2013 Update: Blizzard Entertainment To Discuss Diablo During Press Conference; Booth Schedule Posted

Blizzard Entertainment will be at Gamescom 2013.

A report from Polygon revealed that the creator of Diablo and other hit video games will be at the upcoming Gamescom 2013. An invite was sent to the website stating that there will be a 'special announcement' during the German video game trade fair show.

The invite reads, "You are invited to join Blizzard Entertainment at a press conference on the first day of gamescom 2013. We're making a special announcement that's sure to capture the attention of the Heavens, Burning Hells and all the shadowed places that lie between."

A separate post from Polygon shared the confirmation that Activision Blizzard will unleash interesting details about its Diablo franchise at the forthcoming Gamescom 2013. During the game developer's investor call for its 2nd-quarter fiscal report, the president and co-founder, Mike Morhaime shared, "We'll be sharing more Diablo-related news at Gamescom later this month."

The specific nature of the pending announcement is still unclear but reports say that it could be about an expansion for Diablo 3. Morhaime announced last fall that Blizzard was planning to release an expansion of Diablo 3, but it did not happen. Thus, fans are now expecting that a new expansion will be reveald at Gamescom 2013.

The loot-driven RPG was released spring of last year for Mac and Windows PC. The scheduled release for current-gen game consoles, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, will be on September 3.

Diablo 3 is also expected to arrive on PlayStation 4 next year.

Gamescom 2013 is set from August 21 - 25 on Cologne, Germany. Furthermore, Blizzard Entertainment's press conference will take place on the first day of the gaming trade show, on August 21, at 11:30 AM (CEST). The press conference will most likely concentrate on Diablo 3 "based on the theologically-charged wording of the invite."

Moreover, Blizzard Entertainment has already posted its booth schedule for Gamescom 2013. Some of the highlights of activities include live drawing sessions, live raids, developer signing sessions and concerts. Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft will also be presented daily. It will also be playable at Gamescom 2013.
