Kendra McKenzie Gill, Teen Beauty Queen, Arrested for Throwing Homemade Bombs in Wealthy Neighborhood; Bombshell Bomber May Never Become Miss Utah (Video)
Kendra McKenzie Gill, who was recently crowned Miss Riverton in a Utah beauty contest, was arrested for throwing homemade bombs in a wealthy section of her Riverton neighborhood. Kendra McKenzie Gill won the beauty contest by thrilling the judges with her piano playing.
Teen beauty queen Kendra McKenzie Gill, 18, from Utah was arrested after police accused her and three of her friends of throwing homemade bombs in the affluent Riverton neighborhood. Kendra McKenzie Gill is the reigning Miss Riverton. She is set to be a contestant in the upcoming Miss Utah pageant. The bombshell bomber's arrest could keep her from becoming Miss Utah.
Police allege that Kendra McKenzie Gill and her three teenage friends made crude bombs by filling plastic water bottles with water, aluminum foil and household chemicals. Kendra McKenzie Gill and her friends then threw the devices at homes in the rich section of town. Nine incidents were reported. Police say no one was reported injured.
Kendra McKenzie Gill and her friends were arrested Saturday morning. They have been booked on suspicion of detonating an incendiary device.
The other teenagers who were arrested are John Patrick Reagh, Shanna Marie Smith and Bryce Christopher Stone. The teens were released on Sunday night after being on $50,000 bond.
Capt. Clint Mecham of the Unified Fire Authority reported that neighborhood residents heard explosions in Riverton late Friday night into early Saturday morning. He said the incidents went beyond a teenage prank.
Mecham said "These devices are extremely dangerous. They can cause property damage and bodily harm. They can even be deadly in some cases."
A friend of the suspects said she was surprised the teens were involved in the bombings. Nichelle Spencer told ABC News "I wouldn't expect them, they are really good people."
There has been no date set yet for a return court date. It is not known whether the teens have attorneys. Kendra McKenzie Gill and the Miss Utah pageant have not made any comments.
