NASA's Mars Curiosity Rover Sings Happy Birthday To Itself From Space: Loneliest Birthday Ever [WATCH VIDEO]

NASA's Mars Curiosity Rover celebrated its first birthday...all by it's lonesome self. But it sang itself "Happy Birthday", and you can watch it below.

The Rover has done a lot in the last year. It's spent it on Mars, first of all. It's discovered evidence of water, rivers, and smoothed rocks, explored the terrain, filmed the moon rising, and measured the atmosphere. It's carried out X-ray diffraction analysis on Mars dirt. The Curiosity Rover maybe even found a Mars rat (kinda).

There have been a lot of firsts- but on this first birthday, Rover sang "Happy Birthday" to itself.

Scientists at NASA made one of the rover's instruments hum out the tune of "Happy Birthday" to commemorate the rover's first year. Using the Sample Analysis on MARS instrument, the Curiosity scientists programmed the pitches of the famous birthday song.

"To commemorate SAM's birthday and Curiosity's birthday on Mars, we decided to play a little song," said Florance Tan, SAM electrical lead engineer at Goddard Space Flight Center.

It may be the first time "Happy Birthday" has been hummed from another planet.

Sadly, there's no cake or candles...but the one-ton rover still has enough fuel for another year.
