Windows Phone 8 GDR2: Updates For Lumia 920 And Lumia 820 Smartphones Spotted In Tech Forums, Nokia To Add More Features Before Official Release

The rumored Windows Phone 8 GDR2 is an incremental update for Windows Phone 8 based devices and the unofficial version of it was spotted by WPCentral Forum, according to the blog MobileIndian.

Users from the forum claims that the leaked update was available for the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 smartphones, noting that they might be one of the early devices to get the much awaited and highly talked about upgrade.

According to the blog, the new Windows Phone 8 GDR2 update will be customized by Nokia to add new features and could push the Amber update for its Windows Phone 8 based Lumia devices. The WP8 GDR2 will now feature the highly anticipated FM Radio feature to its users.

Xbox Music will also be getting some enhancements for better streaming and playback, reported the MobileIndian.

The update was discovered in the forums and many are saying that it is not officially being pushed by Nokia because the company is still testing it. The Finnish tech giant and former tech leader will be adding the new Pro Camera app for other Lumia series of devices, but with a few tweaks.

The Amber update for the Windows 8 Phone-powered gadgets is expected to arrive later this month.

The Windows news dedicated site, WinBeta, reported that the GDR2 for Lumia devices will include the Nokia Amber. The Amber is an additional update which will include exclusive features for Lumia devices only.

The 820 with the update features a new Glance Screen, Flip to Silence, and Data Sense.

Although the update is still unofficial, several tech forums have it available and can also be found via the Nokia Care Suite for advance users. The over-the-air update, however, similar to the report of MobileIndian is confirmed by WinBeta to be coming later this month.
