Sony Xperia i1 Honami Phone Release Date, Specs, Pictures Leaked: September 4 Launch At IFA 2013? New Teaser Photo Shows Purple, Razor-Thin Model

The Sony Xperia i1 Honami phone may have the release date of September 4, when Sony might reveal the phone at IFA 2013 in Berlin. A leaked teaser photo of the Xperia i1, nicknamed 'Honami,' shows a razor-thin, purple model.

The IFA 2013 tech show is just a few weeks away and manufacturers have started sending out invites for their pre-show press conferences, where new products are typically announced before going on display to the public, DigitalVersus.com reports.

According to CNET, Samsung has already agreed to a schedule and will hold a press conference on September 4, which is the date displayed on the teaser photo. So it may be possible that Sony will unveil the Xperia i1 Honami phone on that date.

The leaked teaser picture appeared on Chinese site Digi-wo and was picked up by XperiaBlog, techradar.com reports. The photo consists of a black background and a sliver of purple. Upon close examination, a phone can be distinguished, as well as a power button and volume rocker. Many are assuming this is Sony's rumored next addition to the Xperia line, previously going under the codename of Honami - and now referred to as the Xperia i1, techradar.com reports.

Though the leaked photo looks rather official, it is impossible to tell until Sony releases a promo photo globally. After all, it could just be someone having fun on Photoshop.

If the picture is real, then it suggests that the Xperia i1 Honami phone by Sony is a deep purple color, and very slim.

As for the specs of the Xperia i1, reports say the phone will feature a 5-inch full HD, 1080p capacitive multi-touch display. It will run on Qualcomm quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor at 2.2GHz. Honami offers 16GB internal storage and 2GB RAM, and 3000mAh battery. It also features Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and Sony's custom launcher, IB Times notes.

A screenshot of the Xperia i1 Honami leaked online recently, suggesting that the Sony phone will feature a 20-megapixel sensor.
