PS4 Vs. Xbox One Pre-Orders: Sold Out Consoles To Boost Microsoft Sales? Sony Announces They Can No Longer Guarantee Launch-Day Playstation 4

Sony can no longer guarantee that if you pre-order a PlayStation 4 in the UK you'll get it at launch, EuroGamer reports, leaving one question in the minds of gamers - will more users turn to the Xbox One, which remains readily available?

"Sony have confirmed all PlayStation 4 pre-orders placed from 6th August will now not be guaranteed for launch. You can still pre-order PS4 with us in case we receive cancellations and can fulfil your order for launch," a message from ShopTo revealed.

Amazon has also posted notices that next-generation consoles ordered after August 6 will not be received on the release date and will await a full shipment of sufficient inventory.

With the likelihood of Sony being able to provide launch-day version of the Playstation 4 decreasing, new gamers might turn to the Xbox One.

Microsoft's next-generation console is expected to include a Kinect, a sprecially branded Day One 2013 controller with a chrome D-pad, the Xbox One Chat Headset, a 4K rated HDMI cable, power supply cables and a code for a Day One digital achievement, Kotaku reports.

The Xbox One also recently boosted its GPU speed to 553 MHz.
