Harry Styles Twitter: ‘Note To Self: Don't Twerk;’ One Direction Star Tweets His Regret After Dancing At Teen Choice Awards, Ed Sheeran Calls Him ‘Top Twerker’ [VIDEO]

Harry Styles took to Twitter after the 2013 Teen Choice Awards on Sunday night to express his regret after "twerking" at the TCAs, which caused a social media meltdown and was trending on Twitter just moments after Harry Styles "twerked" on television. Ed Sheeran praised Harry's performance.

"Note to self. Don't 'twerk,'" Harry Styles jokingly wrote on Twitter after his booty shake, Xpose Entertainment reports.

According to the website, the One Direction star was encouraged by hosts Lucy Hale and Darren Criss to perform the dance move made popular by stars such as Miley Cyrus, while he attended the Awards show last night. Harry flexed his hands before breaking into the twerk, The Daily Mail reports.

Ed Sheeran, a fellow Brit, and Zayn Malik, his One Direction band mate, were seen lost in laughing fits while Harry was shaking his booty for the cameras.

Despite Harry's regret and vow to never "twerk" again, Ed Sheeran tweeted his support and appreciation for Harry's dance moves.

"One more note, people need to stop encouraging little kids to twerk, it's odd," he posted, according to Xpose.

"Top twerker 2k7 (sic)," he added, attaching a picture of the handsome Harry.

Within seconds of Harry's three-second hip shake, #HarryDroppedThatThunThunThun was trending worldwide on Twitter, The Mirror reports. Hundreds of GIFs and videos of the moment had hit Twitter just moments after as well, causing a social media meltdown, according to The Daily Mail.

The 19-year-old Styles had a good night: he took the "top hottie" award home, as well as a trophy for having the best smile.

One Direction were also crowned Choice Summer Tour, Choice Group, Choice Single (Live While We're Young) and Choice Love Song (Little Things), The Mirror reports.
