Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are making headlines for their two recent appearances together, but the Hollywood couple was spotted sitting apart at the Teen Choice Awards 2013 and the premiere of "Paranoia," leading some fans to believe they might be faking their engagement.

They made a joint appearance at the red carpet premiere of Liam Hemsworth's new film, but they were acting like "strangers" at the event.

"Miley and Liam acted like they didn't even know each other the entire night," a source told Us Weekly. "She was wearing her ring but they acted as if they were strangers."

Although Liam Hemsworth was reportedly giving Miley Cyrus kisses, they were "short, awkward and he didn't seem into them," the source also told Us Weekly.

And the couple was also spotted at the Teen Choice Awards 2013, but Miley Cyrus decided to sit with her family instead of her fiancé.

While Miley Cyrus confirmed the status of their engagement last month during an interview with "Good Morning America," speculation the couple might be splitting continued to grow after her little sister Noah told reporters the Hollywood couple hasn't started planning their wedding yet.

Miley Cyrus even visited Liam Hemsworth in Canada while he was shooting his newest film "Cutbank" late last month, but revealed later on that she's the only one making strides to keep the relationship alive.

There's no official word yet on the couple's engagement status.
