‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Movie Cast: ‘Twilight’ Author Stephenie Meyer Can’t Give Advice To EL James About Casting Christian Grey Or Ana Steele, Because She Refuses To Read Her Book

"Fifty Shades of Grey" casting rumors continue to swirl for the upcoming movie, as fans speculate on who will play Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. Stephenie Meyer, who wrote the "Twilight" series that inspired the book, said she can't give advice to EL James regarding the cast.

TMZ confronted Meyer in Hollywood and asked her if she had any suggestions for the casting of the film. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, who played Edward and Bella in the movie adaption of her "Twilight" books, quickly reached stardom from their roles and resulting off-screen relationship.

Meyer instantly had a look of alarm following TMZ's question, and said that she hadn't even read EL James' novel, which has sold 70 million copies worldwide.

Meyer told The Guardian in March that James' "Fifty Shades" trilogy was "too smutty," TMZ reports.

"Erotica is not something I read," Meyer said. "I don't even read romance."

"There's a reason my books have a lot of innocence," Meyer continued, according to The New York Daily News. "That's the sort of world I live in."

In Meyer's "Twilight" saga, the main characters wait until marriage before getting physical. Even once Bella and Edward tie the knot, the sex is minimally described, which is quite a contrast to James' vivid sexual narrative.

Meanwhile, a new study published in the Journal of Women's Health finds that "Fifty Shades of Grey" perpetuates "dangerous abuse patterns" like stalking, intimidation, humiliation and isolation, USA Today reports today.

The movie is slated to hit theaters in 2014.
