G-Dragon, Park Jin Young, KARA, "Take Your Pick"

G-Dragon, Park Jin Young, and Kara released their singles on September 2nd and have given the listeners a lot of choices.

All three of the released singles deal with "love," tackling them at different angles. G-Dragon's "Who You" shows the broken heart of a man who pathetically hangs on to a broken relationship, whereas KARA's new singleportrays the woman whose heart has been hardened by a breakup with the lyrics "It's Pathetic That I'm Hurt By You."  Park Jin Young's single, "Love Is The Best" told his story of garnering considerable success but still deciding that love was better than money and fame.

G-Dragon, who released six songs from his upcoming album on the 2nd, showed two sides of the coin with "Black" showing a man who is facing a breakup and "Who You" showing a man who's gone through a break up.

"Black" is especially commended for best showcasing G-Dragon's talent. YG's new artist Jenny Kim is the artist featured for the song. The lyrics tell of a man who knows the pain of breakup but still must go through a painful breakup.

"Who You" is the flip side to that coin. It shows the pathetic ex-boyfriend that cannot get over his breakup, going from sarcasm to annoyance to finally a pathetic begging. Lyrics such as "You're so quick to find a man" and "I'm pathetic I know, but I need you back" help portray a realistic response to a breakup that many people understand.

While G-Dragon turned pathetic in the face of a breakup, KARA became tough in the face of heartache. Kara's single "I'm Not a Lady" from their new album FULL BLOOM proves to be a comfort to any woman who has gone through a recent breakup, revealing honest emotional outbursts that a woman might have following a breakup with lyrics such as "I'm upset that I'm left all alone."

"Love Is the Best", Park Jin Young's single from his 10th album Halftime, painted a picture of a contemplation of the meaning of life through his own eyes as a successful entertainer and CEO. The melody is laid upon a mid-tempo hip-hop beat.

G-Dragon also released a music video with the release of the single. It's called "Coup D'etat", and it's a very different concept than the singles that he released. It is filled with G-Dragon style arrogance. His lyrics are self-aggrandizing with lyrics such as "I release one track and make as much as you'd earn at your job" and "If time is money than I'm always broke, I'm always having to teleport form place to place due to high demand". He expresses the power he has as a beloved celebrity and the demand that keeps him occupied without freedom.

It is interesting to note that while KARA released their entire album on the 2nd, G-Dragon and Park Jin Young are taking their time to release their albums. G-Dragon released 6 tracks on the 2nd and will release 6 more tracks on the 5th. He will then release an offline hard-copy version featuring two more tracks on the 13th. Park Jin Young will release his title song on the 9th.
