Battle of the Ballad Singers in the Months to Come… Who Will Come Out with a Bigger Hit?

Ballad singers of the age are planning to battle it out in the upcoming months with their new songs.

Ballad hit-maker artists that have swept the nation since 1990 are planning to put an end to their long break and come back to the music industry. Jo Yong Pil and Lee Seung Chul, who had comebacks earlier on in the year, have paved the road for the next wave of ballad singers and their comebacks.

Shin Seung Hoon, who is planning to hold a solo concert in November and release a new mini album, is one of the ballad singers you can look forward to in the upcoming months. Will he be the one to put an end to the downward spiral of ballad songs? This new album will be the last of 3 mini albums that Shin Seung Hoon releases. His first mini album Radio Wave was released in 2008, and his second mini album Love O'clock was released in 2009. The third and final mini album will be his first comeback in 4 years.

Another ballad singer to revive ballads this year is the original multi-entertainer Lim Chang Jung. He has reunited with his former manager from ten years ago, and is planning to release a new album at the end of this month. As much as he was once considered the blue chip of the entertainment world with his witty remarks, he is planning to resume his broadcast activities with his comeback.

Not only that, the original diva Yangpa is also expected to come back. Although specific details are currently veiled, she is expected to come back as a female vocalist.

Yoo Hee Yeol, who is currently appearing on tvN's "SNL Korea" as a kinky dude, is also planning to release a new album with his comeback. We can only wonder as to how he will combine his fun and silly image with his emotional music, and what kind of synergy he will bring to the table.

It's possible that these ballad singers could change the face of the music industry with their impending comebacks. In the first half of the year, hip hop has been dominating the music industry, especially with the lack of any huge ballad hits. Although there are some ballad songs, such as Hyorin's "Make Me Crazy" and Yoon Mi Rae's "Touch Love," the songs' success can be widely attributed to being SBS "The Master's Sun" OSTs.  You can look forward to their comebacks in the months to come.
