CNBLUE: Top Oricon’s Weekly Single Chart, Breaking 41 Year Chart Record

CNBLUE is the first foreign band in 41 years to top the Oricon’s weekly single chart in Japan.

Within a week of its release of their second major Japanese single “Where You Are” it achieved record sales of over 60,000 copies, sweeping both the daily and weekly charts.

It’s the first time for a foreign band to achieve the feat since the Canadian band, “Mashmakhan,” did with their 1971 single “As the Years Go By.”

CNBLUE has been setting and breaking records such as their Japanese debut single “In My Head” selling over 100,000 copies last year, being recognized as a gold level record. The band became the first Korean artist to perform at the “MTV Unplugged” concert earlier this week.

CNBLUE will embark on their Japanese fan club live tour from February 13.
