Windows RT Tablet: Lenovo Won't Manufacture Microsoft Tablets, Joins Asus And HTC

Microsoft may have acquired a great boost in potential mobile sales when it announced it would buy Nokia, but it seems its Windows RT lineup is still at risk. Even if they managed to develop new processors and other features, that would not be enough until they get enough manufacturers to develop their own devices.

For one, Lenovo has announced that it may not be able to produce any Windows RT tablets, as said by one of its executives Nick Reynolds during the company's press conference at the IFA event in Berlin.

According to the manufacturer's marketing head in Australia, the new power-saving Haswell processors by Intel will already enable the company to develop tablets which feature both high performance and long lasting battery. As a result, the company may not need to use Microsoft's power saving version for Windows.

This adds up to the current problems of Microsoft in the tablet department as other notable manufacturers such as Asus and HTC have already backed down from an upcoming release of Windows RT-powered devices.

On the one hand, Acer has yet to make up its mind whether it will produce another tablet run with the same OS.
