Upcoming Android Devices: Sony Announces New Generation Walkman, Powered By Android

During the IFA event in London, Sony unveiled its new dedicated music player, dubbed the Walkman F886.

While there is certainly an existing argument that dedicated players such as this one, as well as the iPod are now irrelevant, Sony might be willing to take the risk just to please the minority who are still loyal to such devices.

Powered by Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, this Walkman will certainly look good to Android users. And with the platform's integration, it would be easier to connect with devices with the same OS. The device also features a 4-inch Triluminous display which Sony has been known for.

And now let's get to sound.

Like other similar devices, the Walkman F886 prides itself in its own game. Equipped with a Digital Sound Enhancement Engine and an S-Master HX Digital Amplifier, the F886 is sure to provide high resolution audio quality. It also ensures a great user experience by reducing distortion and noise when listening to music.

Now, we go to one of the most important features in the spec sheet - battery.

Fortunately, Sony claimed that its Walkman F886 is able to last up to 35 hours on MP3 playback, and 26 hours for high resolution audio. And because it supports Wi-Fi connectivity, you would also be able to download certain apps from the Play Store.

No word has yet to confirm the pricing for Sony's newest dedicated music player.
