Kristin Cavallari, Jay Cutler’s Wife, Busted for Speeding in Chicago; Tweets Ignorance of the Law

Kristen Cavallari, Jay Cutler’s wife, was stopped for speeding in Evanston, Ill., Police say the former reality TV star and fashion designer Kristin Cavallari was stopped for speeding in the Chicago suburb. Kristen Cavallaria had to post bail at the Evanston police headquarters because she has an out-of-state driver's license.

Kristen Cavallari, the 26-year-old former star of MTV's "Laguna Beach" and "The Hills," was escorted to the Evanston police station because she was driving without an Illinois license. Kristen Cavallari had to post $150 bond. Illinois law requires anyone who moves into the state to transfer their driver's license within 30 days of the move.

Evanston Police Department spokesman Cmdr. Jay Parrott said Kristen Cavallari was heading north on Sheridan Road near where it enters Evanston at about 11:50 a.m. when she was stopped. Kristen Cavallari he was cited for speeding and had to follow the motorcycle officer who stopped her to the police station to post $150 bond. If Cavallari had a valid Illinois driver's license, the officer could have taken it, or she could have used what's known as a bond card to secure bond on the ticket. The citation carries a $120 fine. That could be deducted from the bond or could be raised because of court costs.

Kristen Cavallari, who is married to Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, was driving with a California license. State law requires people who are living in Illinois for over 90 days to get an Illinois license.

Kristen Cavallari was crossing into Evanston from Chicago when she was stopped on Friday. Police haven’t released how fast she was going.

After the bust, Kristen Cavallari took to Twitter to ask, "Who knew having a California drivers license in Illinois was a CRIME to be escorted to the police station to post bail?!! What a morning."
