'World War Z Sequel:' [VIDEO] Producer Brad Pitt 'Talking About It,' Zombie Epic Is A Trilogy? Alternate Ending Revealed

A ‘World War Z” sequel is a serious possibility. Brad Pitt confirms that they are talking about it. After all, the initial plan was a trilogy. The third act of the film was actually changed, and brought a totally new direction.

In an interview with Variety Magazine, Brad Pitt admitted: “We’re certainly talking about it, yes. We have so many ideas on the table from the time we spent developing this thing and figuring out how the zombie worlds work. We gotta get the script right first to determine if we go further.”

“World War Z” was a blockbuster. The movie actually broke the 500 million-dollar global mark. It also ended with an admonition of a sequel as “the battle has just begun.” Gerry Lane has just figured out a vaccine to avoid being sensed by zombies, but the threat is by no means over.

Brad Pitt, in a video from the Toronto International Film Festival (where his film, “12 Years a Slave” was a rousing critical success) addressed the World War Z question and admitted that they are talking about the sequel. The first step though, is a script. While the movie was based on a movie, the screenplay was revised for cinematic consideration.
Speaking of revisions, the third act of the film originally did not have the plane crash. Instead, they make it to Moscow for a grand zombie confrontation where Gerry Lane discovers that cold weather is the zombie’s weakness.

Another angle they explored is how Lane’s family survived without him. It wasn’t as simple as it was presented, with a much darker tone.
Perhaps that storyline was not totally abandoned, and it can be material to explore for a sequel.
