2013 World Gymnastics Championships Uneven Bars Preview [VIDEOS]: Aliya Mustafina, Kyla Ross, Yao Jinnan, And The Most Difficult Routines

The 2013 World Gymnastics Championships begins in Antwerp on September 30, and here is a preview of the women's uneven bars event final, including the contenders and the routines.

Here is a breakdown of the gymnasts with strong uneven bars work and their progress in 2013 so far.

Aliya Mustafina

So far this year, Aliya Mustafina has not shown her full capabilities on uneven bars. Her most recent routine shown at the 2013 European Championship only has a 6.3 start value.

Sadly her Olympic gold medal routine from last year has gone from a 7.0 start value difficulty to a 6.7 due to the recent changes in the Code of Points. Mustafina no longer has the advantage going into the 2013 World Gymnastics Championships, but her execution will continue to make her a standout. It is unclear is Mustafina is competing in the uneven bars event final, as she is doing the all-around competition already.

Yao Jinnan

The youngest member of the 2012 Chinese Olympic gymnastics team is back this year, and unlike most of the gymnasts returning to competition, she is attempting harder skills on the uneven bars than ever!

Her most recent uneven bars performance has a whopping 7.0 start value. However, she also fell twice trying to complete this difficult routine, so it is possible she will downgrade for the 2013 World Gymnastics Championships.

Kyla Ross

The now veteran of the US Gymnastics Team is returning with a few upgraded skills, and her latest uneven bars routine at the 2013 US Gymnastics Championships has a 6.4 start value.

The general consensus is that Kyla Ross has the ability to upgrade her routine for the 2013 World Gymnastics Championships, but whether she will remains to be seen.

Huidan Huang

A relative newcomer on the Chinese gymnastics scene, Huidan Huang is emblematic of the strong uneven bars tradition in China, like many of her teammates.

Huidan Huang is expected to compete in the uneven bars event final with her routine, which last seen, has a start value of 6.6.

Chunsong Shang

This breakout Chinese gymnast is expected to compete in the all-around competition, and her uneven bars routine includes a new skill that could be named after her!

With a potential 6.9 start value, she has difficult routine that could seriously make her a threat for the all-around title!
