Though a US release date and price for the Sony Xperia Z1 has yet to be revealed, the phone will roll out by the end of September across the globe, IB Times reports. Also, the Sony Xperia Z1 is expected to release on more U.S. carriers than the Xperia Z, IB Times reports. The Xperia Z only had an exclusive release to T-Mobile customers.

The Sony Xperia Z1 will be available in black, white, and purple.

As reported by IB Times, Sony has paired high-end specs with the high price for the Xperia Z1, including a 5-inch, full HD (1080p x 1920) touchscreen, a 2.2GHz, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor (MSM8974), 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage (expandable via a micro SD card), and a 3,000 mAh battery. The Sony Xperia Z1 is also capable of shooting video in Ultra HD, or 4K resolution. The Z1 also upgraded the camera to a 20.7-megapixel smartphone sensor. The phone is also waterproof and dustproof.
