Apple Expected To Announce Release Date Of New Operating System iOS 7, And Unveil New iPhone 5S And 5C At Press Event Today

Apple is expected to unveil their new iPhone 5S, 5C, and a new operating system iOS 7 at a press event in Cupertino, California today that Apple says will "brighten everyone's day," ABC News reports.

The Apple press event begins at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET, and iPhone users are anxiously awaiting to see what will be unveiled at the event, including the rumored iPhone 5S, 5S, and iOS 7.

In June, Apple previewed iOS 7, the next version of the iPhone and iPad software with a radically different look, including new a new color palette and different, flat icons. The iOS 7 also comes with new features, including a Command Center for easy access to settings and a new camera app. Siri also has a different voice, ABC News reports.

Apple will announce the release date of the software at the event, which will likely be the week of the iPhone launch. Apple has already said that iOS 7 would be out this fall for the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and iPhone 5, according to ABC News.

The iPhone 5S is also expected to be unveiled at the press event this afternoon. According to leaks, the iPhone 5S will look a lot like the 5, but may come in a gold color and a fingerprint scanner. The fingerprint sensor will allow you to log into the phone with just a swipe of your finger, ABC News reports.

It is believed that the iPhone 5S will also come with a faster processor and a better camera, but probably not a bigger screen than the current 4-inch display, according to ABC News.

The internet has also been abuzz about the debut of the iPhone 5C, a reportedly plastic, lower-cost version of the iPhone. According to the many leaked photos of the phone, it will come in a series of colors, including yellow, white, green and blue, ABC News reports.

The idea is that this phone will be a cheaper model than the 5S and might replace the iPhone 4S or 5 on store shelves; Apple usually drops the price of older models when the newest iPhone is released.

The release date of both the iPhone 5S and the 5C is Sept. 20, sources told ABC News.
