‘2 Million Bikers’ Will Rev Through DC Tomorrow Despite Permit Denial, In Remembrance of 9/11 Victims

"2 Million Bikers To D.C." demonstration will continue their march on motorcycles in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, in remembrance of the victims of 9/11, despite their permit getting denied.

"It is not a crime to parade" through the city without a permit, Ted Gest, a spokesman for the D.C. attorney general's office, told U.S. News.

But, Gest cautioned, "I don't think we can speculate on what penalties the motorcycle riders might be subjected to for traffic or other offenses because we don't know what they're going to do."

The "2 Million Bikers to D.C." demonstration was announced in August and its last-minute request for a National Park Service event permit was denied, US News reports.

Organizers applied for the permit in hopes that it would allow a temporary closure of some city roads and intersections to allow an efficient inflow and outflow of riders from the National Mall area, but park service spokesperson Carol Johnson told The Blaze "it would cause a severe service disruption of traffic... We couldn't provide adequate park police services and park police escorts and it would require a lot of road closures so it was denied."

In a post on Facebook on Friday, the organizers of "2 Million Bikers To D.C." apologized to city residents for what will likely be gridlock as the patriotic bikers rev their engines in remembrance of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, and the U.S. soldiers who fought in Afghanistan 12 years ago, US News reports.

"What could have been a one or two hour ride through will now likely be an all day event," the organizers said.

The bikers plan to meet outside D.C. and cross into the city sometime after 11 a.m. The exact route isn't being made public, they said, due to "security purposes."

The dcist website reports that the "2 Million Bikers To D.C." rally is in response to the Muslim Million March, according to The Inquisitr, which is a march apparently organized by the American Muslim Political Action Committee, known to hold extreme views regarding the 9/11 attacks.

According to The Inquisitr, the bikers rally have posted four specific goals they hope to achieve during their demonstration:

"1. WE, THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, WILL STAND BY OUR CONSTITUTION (AS WRITTEN, NOT AS INTERPRETED BY THE THIS OR ANY PREVIOUS ADMINISTRATION), WE WILL STAND BY OUR BILL OF RIGHTS (AS WRITTEN) AND WE STAND FOR AMERICA!

2. THIS EVENT IS TO OUR HONOR AND RESPECT THOSE WHO WERE KILLED ON 9/11 AND THEIR FAMILIES! IT IS ALSO IN REMEMBRANCE OF THOSE IN ALL OUR ARMED FORCES WHO FOUGHT THOSE WHO PRECIPITATED THIS ATTACK!

3. WE STAND AGAINST ANY "FUNDAMENTAL TRANSFORMATION OF AMERICA" BY THIS ADMINISTRATION OR ANY PREVIOUS ADMINISTRATION!

4. WE WILL NOT STAND DOWN WE WILL STAND UP IF NEED BE FOR OUR LIBERTIES. ** THIS IS A PEACEFUL "RIDE". WE ARE NOT PROMOTING NOR DO WE CONDONE VIOLENCE OF ANY KIND! WE ARE RIDING TO SHOW OUR LOVE OF AMERICA AND THE SHINING EXAMPLE OF FREEDOM THIS COUNTRY PROVIDES TO THE WORLD!**"
