Smartphone Security: NSA Can Access Information From Your iOS, Android And Blackberry OS Powered Smartphone

A lot of smartphone users nowadays store important details, addresses, contacts and even financial information in their mobile phones, thinking that these devices are among the most secure on the planet. However, some sources say otherwise.

According to German news website SPIEGEL, it has seen top secret documents which show that the United States' National Security Agency (NSA) can gain access to most smartphones in the market today. It says the NSA can tap information on devices run by Google's Android platform, Apple's iOS and Blackberry's own Blackberry OS.

The website says that NSA can get information from smartphones running the mentioned platforms, some of which include text messages, call logs, contact lists, SMS traffic, notes, and even locations of the user.

The documents also indicate that NSA has even assigned a focus group to deal with a particular mobile platform.

And if you are a Blackberry phone user, you may think twice that your phone is secure enough. The document also said that the NSA has already gained access to the platform's mail system, which was thought to be very secure.

However, SPIEGEL reported that the alleged surveillance system of NSA was not permitted by smartphone manufacturers and network companies, and that it has been targeted on an individual level.
