Windows Vs. iOs: Microsoft To Pay $200 In iPad Trade-In Program In Preparation For Surface 2 Launch

The Windows vs iOS is one of the most storied rivalries in the industry today, and until now they are still competing, but on separate markets. Microsoft's Windows certainly is the most used operating system on the planet, but its Windows 8 release has not impressed many. On the other hand, Apple's iOS has had great success, especially with its iPhone and iPad lineup.

Now, it seems Microsoft wants to even the scales by offering iPad users $200 for a trade-in, just in time for the manufacturer's new tablet, the Surface 2.

According to BGR, the promo started on September 5 and will last until October 27, more than a month after the Surface 2's announcement on Sept. 23.

The website says it allows consumers to trade in a "gently used iPad 2, 3, or 4″ for a gift card starting at $200." However, Microsoft did not mention whether there is a price limit for the trade-in program.

Customers who wish to trade in their iPads should also personally visit a Microsoft store in order to make the trade and get the gift card.

While some users think that this is a desperation move, it's all business for the Redmond-based company.
