Grey's Anatomy Season 10 To Feature Alex Karev's Father As Katherine Heigl Returns To TV: Actress Deemed 'Not Worth It' By Hollywood Insiders

As "Grey's Anatomy" prepares to return for an astounding season 10, Alex Karev will finally confront his estranged father, played by James Remar!

"I'm doing 'Grey's Anatomy' right now, and I play the father of one of the doctor's on the show, Justin Chambers' character [Alex Karev]," says Remar to Zap2it.

"He's a guy that's had a very rough life, a lot of drugs. So it's not an easy reunion. I do start out as a patient."

Given the many storylines we'll be seeing in the two-hour season 10 premiere, it is unlikely we will see Remar until later on in "Grey's Anatomy."

And speaking of Alex Karev, remember Izzie Stevens?

Katherine Heigl, the once Emmy award-winning actress from "Grey's Anatomy," will be returning to the small screen, albeit with a reputation in need of redeeming.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Heigl will executive produce and star in a new NBC CIA-themed series that is being described as "Scandal" meets "The West Wing."

"I have been passionate about, and enthralled by, this project from the moment Hank, Rodney and Bob brought it to me over a year ago," says Heigl.

"The story is not only compelling and intelligent but a look behind the curtain at the CIA we haven't seen before in film or television. I am thrilled and honored to have been asked to be a part of developing these stories and this character and bringing it all to life."

But as the "Grey's Anatomy" team may be familiar with, Heigl is coming off of some bad rap from Hollywood insiders, after being labeled difficult to work with.

"She can cost you time every single day of shooting ... wardrobe issues, not getting out of the trailer, questioning the script every single day," says an insider who worked with Heigl on the film "Life as We Know It."
